While deleting the app data and even uninstalling and reinstalling the app will address this issue, however, the respite is temporary. So we did some further digging into this issue and found out that the bug first came to light after the app was updated to the latest version on 26th March. So the culprit is, infact, the latest update rolled out by Google. So, to rectify this issue, you just need to downgrade the app to its older version and stay on it until the issue is rectified. Here’s how i can be done:

  1. First off, head over to Settings > Apps > All Apps > Google.
  2. Now tap on the overflow icon and select Uninstall Updates.
  3. Finally, tap on OK in the confirmation dialog that appears.downgrade google app

That’s it. This should fix the issue of search result filters not working in the Google App. As far as the official stance on this matter is concerned, the developers are aware of this issue, but they haven’t given out any ETA for the rollout of a fix. As and when that happens, we will update this guide accordingly. In the meantime, the aforementioned workarounds are your best bet.
