How to Root Nothing Phone 2 via KernelSU

How to Root Nothing Phone 2 via KernelSU

  5. Then boot your device to the Fastboot Mode via:

  6. Now refer to any one of the three kernel flashing methods given below:

Flash Custom Kernel Using Fastboot Command

The easiest and most straightforward out of the three kernel flashing methods, this is usually the go-to choice for the masses. Just make sure to rename the custom kernel to kernel.img and transfer it to the platform-tools folder on your PC.

  1. Type the below command to flash the custom kernel on your device:
    fastboot flash boot kernel.img

  2. After that, type in the below command to boot your device to the OS:
    fastboot reboot

Flash Custom Kernel Via Custom Recovery

If you don’t want to root your device, then you can also take the help of a custom recovery to get this job done. Here’s how: [before starting, make sure to transfer the kernel file to your device].

  1. First off, install a custom recovery onto your device.
  2. Then boot your device to it via the below command:
    adb reboot recovery
  3. Now go to Install > Install Image > select boot.img.
  4. Then choose the boot partition and swipe to flash it.
  5. Finally, head to Reboot > System to boot to the OS.

Flash Custom Kernel Using a Kernel Flasher App

You can also flash the kernel using a kernel flasher app, however, that would require your device to be rooted beforehand [How to Root Nothing Phone 2 via Magisk]. If that’s all well and good, then here’s how you can get this job done [NOTE: as soon as you obtain root via KernelSU, the root via Magisk will be gone, and you can then simply uninstall the Magisk app].

  1. Install the Kernel Flasher App from GitHub.
  2. Launch it and grant it the SuperUser request.
  3. Choose Slot A > Flash partition image > boot.
  4. Once flashed, restart your device and that’s it.

The Final Step

Once you have flashed the custom kernel and booted to the OS, install the KernelSU app from GitHub. Then launch, and you may now verify the root status.
