In this guide, we will make you aware of the reasoning why you are unable to change SIMs in Google Messages and list out its fix as well. The Silicon Valley giant always keeps on experimenting with its app in the form of chopping features,  introducing new ones, and changing the positioning of the existing ones, even if no one had asked for them in the first place. The latest casualty in this regard is the Messaging app from Google from where the ability to switch SIMs is no longer there. Or is that really the case?

Well, earlier, you could easily tap on the SIM icon present in the message compose section and then change the SIMs from there. Or long pressing the Send icon was also a possibility. However, now, both of them have been removed, for better or worse. Now there exists a new way of getting this job done, which requires a couple of additional steps. This has left the internet divided.

On one hand, users are rightly pissed off about the fact that now they have to carry out this task using some extra steps which could earlier easily be done just via single tap. But on the other hand, others are rejoicing with this change as they now get some extra space in the compose screen.

Moreover, they also said that it’s not every day that someone changes the SIM card for a contact, so a feature that is rarely used being sent hidden from the normal viewpoint completely makes sense. Well, the jury is out to decide on this [and you too can drop in your opinions in the comments section below], but for now, let’s make you aware of the new ways to access this feature. Follow along.

How to Change SIMs in Google Messages After the Latest Update?

Cannot change SIMs in Google Messages

There are two ways through which you can get this job done; you may try out the one that is in sync with your requirements.

FIX 1

  1. To begin with, head over to the chat screen of the desired contact/person.
  2. Then tap on their name or number, which is given at the top of the screen.
  3. Now tap on ‘Send with’ and you can select the desired SIM card from there.

FIX 2

  1. From the chat screen, tap on the overflow icon at the top right and select Details.
  2. You can then access the option to change the SIM card from that menu. That’s it.

These were the two different methods through which you can change SIMs in the Google Messages app after the latest update. We would love to hear your views on this change. Do drop them in the comments section below and let your opinions be heard!
